How to stop moths from damaging my cashmere piece?
To ensure your favourite cashmere garment doesn't get damaged by uninvited visitors. We recommend checking soft furnishings and clothes in your wardrobes and drawers for any signs of silvery looking threads about an inch long. These could be larvae cases that show moths are present.
The moth larvae does most of the damage as they feed on a protein called ceratin. Ceratin are in natural fibres such as cashmere, wool, feathers and human hair.
Follow these simple steps to prevent moths damaging your cashmere sweater:
1. Destroy the eggs; these cause the most damage! The moths have a lifecycle of 65 to 90 days and the adults can lay up to 40 eggs.
2. Vacuum clean your home regularly; under the bed, above headboards and wardrobes.
